August 16th, 2009

We are all currently faced with tough economical times which have led many of us to find our selves out of a job. Those that are still lucky enough to have a job are dreading the day that they will also be let go. The truth is that all businesses have also come to a halt and the only real way to making money lies in cutting down on your personal expenses. One area that everyone should target is the car that they drive. The truth is that most Americans are known to go for the traditional American cars that consume a lot of petrol. The trend for opting for brand new cars is long gone as people are now looking to buy cars in the used market area. One car that is particularly in demand is the used Toyota. This car has become quite common amongst the roads of America. Many experts have seen this change in trend as a great way of saving money.

Now you may be wondering why there is a popularity of people opting to go for a used Toyota in comparison to any other used car. Well the truth is that a used Toyota is a Japanese manufactured car. Japanese cars in general have a very good reputation amongst the world. They are known to be very economical and cheap in terms of running and initial invested. To be honest, a used Toyota can save you in the region of up to $5000 alone. There are many ways that you can go about in purchasing a used Toyota. One of the best places to start looking for a used Toyota is online. There are many websites that you can visit which will offer you a good idea of what type of price that you can expect. The most recommended website to use is auto trader. This website basically hosts all the private sellers that are selling their car. All you have to do is simply put in the details of the car that you are looking for and you will be provided with a long list. What you have to realise is that you will be presented with a long list of used Toyota’s that you can choose from. The price will vary from vehicle to vehicle. The price will vary depending on the condition of the car. The important thing that you have to realise is that the amount the car has already been driven will play a huge role in the price of the car. The lower the mileage on the car the more expensive it will be.

Another factor that will play a huge role in terms of the price of the car will be if it has been involved in any accidents or not. Cars that have had a front damage accident should seriously be avoided. The reason being is that with front damaged cars there is always a risk of the engine being damaged. It is okay to go for a back damaged car as they are not of much concern. All you have to make sure is that the car is safe to drive and road legal. There are many organisations that you can use to find out if the used car that you are after has not been stolen.

Tips for Buying Second Hand Cars

June 25th, 2009

Purchasing a car is a big commitment.  Anytime you search for a vehicle you want to know the car you are getting is going to be worth the cost.  Purchasing second hand cars is generally conducted by a private sale.  This means the buyer has less consumer rights, and there are things the seller does not legally have to disclose.  Whether you are native to Japan or living there for several years you need to understand the differences in buying a used car there versus in the US.  For example there may be a Vehicle Information Package the buyer can provide you, but they are not required to do so.  This could determine whether you want to purchase the second hand car you are looking at.
When you purchase any used or second hand vehicle from used car dealers, no matter where you are you want to check underneath the vehicle as well as in the engine compartment.  You do nott have to know what you are looking at when gazing at the underside of a second hand car.  Instead all you need to know is what leaks look like.  You know what rust is, you know what leaking oil or other fluids will look like, and so by looking at the underside you can guard against problems.
Anytime you are looking at second hand cars you should test drive them.  By taking it out on the open road in a place you can up the speed limit, you can find out if there are any rattles or shakes.  You can also test for misalignment.
Second hand cars often have quirks.  This is one reason the price is often right.  You will want to test everything from the turn signals and seat belts to the lights and wipers.  By testing all equipment you can find out what does and does not work, thus using what does not work as a further bargaining chip.
If you are unsure of anything regarding the second hand cars like the used Corolla or Nissan, take it to a mechanic.  A mechanic can do an expert inspection of the vehicle.  They will even hook it up to the computer to find out if there is anything wrong.  This ensures you get the vehicle you want, without endangering yourself or your family.
The best advice you can get when it comes to second hand cars is to trust your instincts.

Finding the Best Japanese Vehicle

June 22nd, 2009

The choices for finding a second hand car made by a Japanese manufacturer are quite good.  There are so many to choose from.  One of the top car manufacturers of Japanese cars is Toyota, but do not forget about Mazda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Honda, Suzuki and Daihatsu.  All of these car producers provide vehicles for different markets.  Toyota has a good reputation for quality and they offer many choices for buying a second hand car.   The other manufacturers though have merits that must be checked out before purchasing.
If you are looking for a second hand car that offers great gas mileage you will not be disappointed with any of the above mentioned car producers.  They come with small to moderate size engines so that fuel economy can be readily achieved.  There are many models that can accommodate families, business travellers or sales representatives that must carry merchandise.  If you are looking for four wheel drive options they come with Toyota, Subaru and Suzuki.  Honda has consistently provided luxury in their sedan models.  Finding just the right car for your situation will take some research because the choices are so varied.
Second hand car choices can come with five speed manual transmissions or four speed automatic transmissions.  There are a few that use diesel fuel instead of petrol.  The Japanese vehicles come with front wheel drive or four wheel drive.  This makes driving in adverse weather conditions much easier.  You can get better stability on wet roads with either type of drive train.
Sedans from manufacturers like Toyota offer Sprinter which is considered to be a luxury vehicle.  Many of these Japanese vehicles like Demio have leather interiors and a lot of legroom.   Some of the second hand cars might come with a navigation system as well as Bluetooth capabilities.  They can control the climate separately for the front and back seat areas.
Subaru is one of the four wheel drive vehicles that make great cars for families.  They offer economy on fuel and enough room for all of the belongings that must be carried for children.  The Forester, Legacy and Impreza can be found in a sedan or a wagon styling, while the Outback and Tribeca only come in wagons.
Choosing second hand cars made by Japanese manufacturers will provide the buyer with some of the best vehicles ever made.  Trying to decide which one suits your needs is where the decision may get difficult.

Safe Cell Phone Driving

June 21st, 2009

Many people enjoy talking on their cell phones will driving in their used Starlets and used Lexus.  But this is becoming against the law in most areas.  Today many cellular phones have gone wireless, allowing consumers to chat on the phone while their hands remain on the steering wheels.  Wireless headsets are allowing consumers to make calls without violating any laws, but drivers need to remember that they still need to drive safely even while carrying on a conversation with the people on the other end of the phone.

As a responsible driver you need to use proper judgement when using a cellular phone while driving a Japanese used car.  Your attention should primarily be on the road with the conversation secondary.  If you do not pay attention to your driving, you could get seriously injured.  Here are a few tips for you to follow if you need to use your cellular phone while driving Corona Premio for sale.

1. Always use a hands-free device such as a Bluetooth headset so that you do not have to try and hold the phone to your ear while you are driving.  These devices will allow you as mentioned earlier to keep your hands on the wheel.  If your phone is not Bluetooth capable, you can still get an earpiece that connects to your phone with a wire, allowing you to still keep your hands free and on the steering wheel.

2. Get to know all of the features of your cellular phone including speed dial and redial.  Check to see if your phone comes with voice-activated dialing and then set this feature up.  This way you can have your phone dial the number you want by simply telling it to.

3. Keep your cellular phone in easy reach in case it rings.  If you are not in the position to safely answer the phone, let the call go to voicemail and then pull over when it is safe to listen to the message.

4. If you take an incoming call while driving, let the other person on the phone know you are driving.  If the weather should happen to get bad while you are on your cellular phone, feel free to tell the person you will call them back and hang up so that you can concentrate on the situation at hand.

5. Never try to look up a phone number or take notes while driving.  Pull over and do it.

6. Be a Good Samaritan and report any road emergencies you pass by if there are no service personnel at the scene.  Additionally, call and report reckless, impaired, and aggressive drivers.

Car Recalls

June 17th, 2009

You have just found the used Mitsubishi Canter for sale that you have always wanted, but what do you know about this particular car?  What about the Hiace Wagon you bought two years ago from a used car dealer?  Do you know if either one of these vehicles have had a recent safety recall?  You may not if you bought them used and did not register your ownership of the vehicle with the manufacturer.  Being aware of car recalls is important as these recalls usually center around some dangerous safety issue that may need to be fixed.

Dealing with car recalls is something the average used car buyer does not always think of.  If you see a car that you really like, such as that used Mitsubishi Canter for sale, consider getting the VIN number off of the car and doing a little checking first.  Many vehicle manufacturers have a place on their website that allows you to key in the VIN number and find out if there has been any form of recall on the car.  If you find a recall on the car you are interested in buying, you can do one of two things: you can purchase the car and then take it to an authorized dealer to have the issue fixed for free; or you can skip the car and look for something else.

Car manufacturers will issue a car recall for anything that has to do with the safety of the vehicle, whether it is for a minor mechanical problem to a more dangerous problem.  As we have mentioned, you can check online for information on recalls.  If you purchase the car and contact the manufacturer and let them know that you are now the registered owner of the car, they will mail you a postcard when a recall comes up.  The postcard will have all the information you need on it about the nature of the recall and how you need to handle getting your vehicle repaired.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is another good place to find out information on car recalls as well as contacting the manufacturer directly.

There is no reason why you cannot buy a used Toyota Ipsum or Isuzu Elf for sale if this is the type of vehicle you want.  Just protect yourself and your family by checking out everything you can about the vehicle before spending your hard earn money on it.  It could save your life.

Supercharger or Turbocharger?

June 9th, 2009

Does your Toyota Starlet or Lexus come equipped with supercharger or turbocharger?  Are you sure it does not?  Many cars today especially ones with smaller engines come equipped standard with turbochargers.  This is to help increase the power in the cars without having to add a larger engine to the vehicle.  Other cars, especially used ones, have had after market superchargers and turbochargers added to them.  However, while both will increase the power of your vehicle, there are differences between them.

A supercharger will compress the air that is delivered to the engine of your Toyota Starlet or a Japanese car.  It allows the combustion chamber in the engine to actually overfill with air without having to put a larger engine into the car.  A turbocharger does pretty much the same thing except it uses exhaust gases to increase the horsepower where the supercharger uses the air driving in from the moving of the drive belt.  The more oxygen both of these devices bring into the engine the more horsepower you get from your car.

One of the biggest differences between the two is that the supercharger works immediately as it is powered right from the engine and begins compressing air immediately.  The turbocharger is delayed because the exhaust gases have to build up into the system to power the turbo and then the compressor.  With a supercharger you get an immediate result when you step on the pedal.  A turbocharger kicks in after a small delay.  Supercharger’s also have less of a problem with residual heat coming off the engine, allowing it to run at a greater efficiency than a turbocharger and can help a smaller engine increase the cars gas mileage.

However, a turbocharger is more efficient than the supercharger because it uses exhaust gases to power it although it does cause an increase in the system’s back pressure and this robs the car of power.  The car has to be running at a high RPM in order to get a good boost from the turbocharger than a supercharger.

A supercharger is going to be easier to install into the car after market than a turbocharger.  Both are expensive to add after you have bought the car.  If you are good with mechanics you can probably install either of them yourself.  Otherwise you will want to enlist the services of a good mechanic to make sure they are put in properly and work efficiently.
